Full Moon

Since Jeff Gannon reminded us of Craig Spence, who got us thinking about George HW Bush and Reverend Moon, and then Moon's place of privilege in the parapolitical world, I was interested to see this today on Democratic Underground, which seems to close the circle.

Bobby Eberle is President and CEO of GOPUSA, "a privately-held corporation dedicated to promoting the conservative political philosophy through the distribution of conservative news, information, and commentary via the Internet and special events." Both "gopusa.com" and Gannon's "talonnews.com" are registered in Eberle's name, and TalonNews stories consisted of brief introductory paragraphs, with a link "to read more" which redirected visitors to gopusa.com.

There's an interesting thing about Eberle's online bio, apart from the fact it's no longer online. (Here's its Google cache.) Eberle's opinion pieces, so it says, "have been featured in the Washington Times, Human Events, Insight Magazine, and numerous newspapers across the country." How significant is it that all three listed are Moonie publications? Hard to tell, perhaps, without a list of the "numerous newspapers." But it makes me wonder about the provenance of "GOPUSA," and just who was running a male prostitute in the White House.

And another thing I learned from that DU post: Moon is waging a campaign to persuade American churches to trade the symbolism of a cross for a crown. (A cross is just so, you know, yesterday's Messiah.) Something he probably doesn't include in the ecumenical pitch: the crown represents his own.

As bizarre as it sounds, it's finding success. Here's some indication, from April 2003, and the Unification Church publication True Parent. (And who do you think that might be?)

A truly profound moment in history has occurred. 123 clergy took down their crosses over the Easter weekend. This was supported by another 135 clergy who attended services participating and in accord with this dispensation. All told, 258 clergy directly affirmed the taking down of the cross proclaiming an end the era of bloodshed and sacrifice and the beginning of a new era of faith and resurrection.

The desire of God for the second Israel is now being realized. Christian pastors are uniting with the Lord of the Second Advent and taking down the cross. They are embracing the blessing and coming forward to build the Kingdom of God on Earth. These pastors are standing on the foundation of direct experience with Father during the 50 state tour and the profound leadership he has given to the ACLC through the Blessing of Marriage movement and the courageous public proclamation of the revelations of Jesus and saints from the spirit world which confirm that True Parents are the ones anointed by Jesus to fulfill the second coming.

(For my own paranoid reasons, which I hope need no explanation, I won't live-link to the church. But cut and paste tparents.org/UNews/Unws0304/ and you're off and running. Just don't look behind you.)

Two scenes, from 123 "taking down the cross" ceremonies:

"In response to Rev. Moon's teachings on the cross, Rev. John
Kingara takes down the cross at the Worldwide Greater Mission
Church in Worchester, MA on Good Friday, April 18, 2003 as
members of his congregation look on."

"In response to Rev. Moon's teachings on the cross, Bishop C.
Phillip Johnson and members of the New Prospect Family Praise
and Worship Center in Washington, DC, take down their cross
on Good Friday, April 18, 2003."

Interesting, maybe. Disturbing, probably. But so what?

Do you recall the initial ban on the display of crosses for the Bush/Cheney 2005 inauguration parade? Under pressure from Christian activists - apparently of the non-Moonified variety - the Secret Service rescinded the ban. Rev. Patrick Mahoney, the director of the Christian Defense Coalition, called the decision welcome, but added "the original ban was troubling because 'Christianity's most sacred symbol has been singled out as the only religious item prohibited' in the initial regulations."

Perhaps we ought to rethink the rationale for the ban. Could it have been a sop to Moon, one of the Bush family's dearest paymasters, and the figure overshadowing America's "Christian" Right?

Also, if we have the stomach for it, perhaps we should revisit the redecoration of the Lincoln bedroom. Remember? Here's Sidney Blumenthal, writing last Oct 14:

Even now, the White House is being redecorated for President Bush's second term -- or at least one room, the Lincoln Bedroom. The famous long bed will remain; so will the original Emancipation Proclamation in its glass case. But dominating the room, above the bed, will be a large carved crown from which will flow, ceiling to floor, royal purple satin drapes. The crown has been sent to be gilded with gold in anticipation of Bush's triumphant return from his campaign.

Well, perhaps not. Perhaps the crown actually belongs to another.

If you're saying Bush is a Moonie, I disagree. Literally taking down the cross will be met with overwhelming resistance in this country. If that's the plan, it's DOA. Have you ever met a Christian? That's like pissing in their refrigerator.

Why would characters so devious, so adept at concealing their true criminal interests make such an obvious mistake?

No, Moon will be crowned sovereign to his followers only. "Unification" will go by the name "religious diversity," much as fascism is now called "democracy."

And maybe there's life on Mars...

RE: The replacement of the cross. I don't know- there may be a lot of Christians who will embrace the positive symbolism of the crown as opposed to the suffering represented by the cross. Falsely (and sadly), I might add, since the kabbalistic symbolism of the cross is merely an unfolded cube with a rose/heart at its center- a truly uplifting image. Those in the photos look fairly gleeful about disposing the cross.
Either way, Moon shouldn't be taken for granted. Did I miss a reference on your page to the Where in Washington D.C. is Sun Myung Moon blogsite???

Just a weird thought-- does Moon have anything to do with how the Bush administraiton has been dealing with North Korea? Does Moon secretly want the North to have the bomb?

"Taking down the cross" would be met with overwhelming resistance in the US at the present time, but what might happen if Reagans prophecy of an external threat to huumanity were to strangely come true and we were presented with evidence that we are not "alone" after all? Today NASA more or less announced that there is "life on Mars". Sure, its only teeny tiny, but, just you wait Henry Higgins, just you wait.

It's about more than Moon. Religions can be engineered to taste these days. It's about faith-based lunacy across the board, as a front for the consolidation of shady private power networks. Whether Bush personally is in on the scam, or merely an instrument of it, will be the subject of debate for some time to come.

Billmon gets it:

If there does turn out to be an "external threat" in the news, then expect to start hearing a lot of new-agey mumbo-jumbo about "global consciousness" and so forth. I don't think they'll go that far, but I've been wrong before.

Hey, those are Burger King crowns!
This is obviously a plot to get us to worship the Whopper. He was parbroiled for our sins -- or have it your way! Crucify him or barbecue him, he'll take away your sins with that scrumptious order of extra large fries.

We will see if the Burger King motif continues. If the moonies start substituting chocolate shakes for the communion wine, well, it will be Q.E.D. And given the obesity stats in this country, I think S.M. might be seriously onto something. Skinny messiahs from the past are as demanding as those damn salad diets -- and as out of date! We need a convenient messiah, a drive in messiah.

Or as B.K. said in the beatitudes: blessed is the charbroiled with onions

""My dream," according to a l973 speech,"is to organize a Christian political party including all the Protestant denominations, Catholic, and all the religious sects. We can embrace the religious world in one arm and the political world in the other... . The whole world is in my hand, and I will conquer and subjugate the world."

Moon has been explicit about his plan to "unify" the world under a global theocracy and his opposition to constitutional democracy. Alan Tate Wood, a former high official in the church, quoted Moon as saying that "God is phasing out democracy." Wood testified to Congress that Moon told followers in 1970 that the U.S. was to come under UC dominance."Part of our strategy," Moon said,"must be to make friends in the FBI, the CIA, and the police forces, the military and business community... as a means of entering the political arena, influencing foreign policy, and ultimately of establishing absolute dominion over the American people."

Most Xtians won't notice the difference; people who care about democracy will.

I've always thought the cross was a rather creepy symbol of worship. Christian faith claims Christ died for our sins, but had he been beheaded, would we symbolize the sacrifice by holding a rosary with a guillotine?

On the other hand, utilizing a crown as symbolism also stands in defiance of what the Living Christ was about. Crowns are man's vanity plates.

And for Moon to be involved in any of this is like going along with Satan's redecorating.

Yet I approve of it for Bush. His Messianic complex is clear. He actually IS Lord of the Earth in its present incarnation. He deserves to feel special. After all, he's the dfirst President to have to suffer the indignity of having no real manhood. So let him pretend. I mean, think of how much pretending Laura's had to do all these years. It's his turn.

Minor point: Human Events is not a Moonie publication. It's owned by Eagle Publishing/Tom Philips, the same people who now control Regnery books.

i'm not a christian as such but even i can tell you the symbolism of the cross and the suffering of the son of god are absolutely core to the nature of this religion - to elevate other symbols would be in effect to deny the truth of christ's teachings - that (like buddha also said) life is suffering redeemed only by sacrifice. a crown places the individual above others in a false way that denies the truth and mystery of the death and ressurrection of god. in fact it denies hope, and it is so destructive to the gospel teachings and the word of god as to be blatantly anti-christ in intentions. wake up america, not only your constitution is being subverted, your religion is also being perverted by false prophets. like i said, i'm not even a christian and for this to concern a sinner like me i think should say something to you. if you have the willingness to listen, or is that beelzebub buzzing in your ears?
