America's Condition Greene

Newt: My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are.
Ripley: Yes there are, aren't there?
Newt: Why do they tell little kids that?
Ripley: Most of the time it's true....

Paging Dr Greene

Last week an Oregon psychiatrist, Dr. George F. Wittkopp, was forced out of his practice because, to help some patients, he had given them "information on the 'New World Order,' an international conspiracy 'to establish world government and a world economic system and a world religion.'" That's all I know, so I can't defend or condemn Dr Wittkopp's methods, or teaching tools. (And as researcher John Judge has said, not all conspiracies are created equal. Sometimes, even often, they're simply wrong.) Still, I can see the hypothetical case for a doctor to tell certain patients something like, "You know what? It's not all in your head. They really are after you."

Here, regretably, is more than a hypothetical. In an earlier post I quoted testimony from mind control survivor Claudia Mullen before the 1995 Presidential Commission on Radiation Experiments. Ms Mullen's therapist, Dr Valerie Wolf, also testified:

In preparation for my testimony at these hearings, I called nearly 40 therapists across the country to find out what they knew about the link between radiation and mind control and to get what other therapists were seeing in clients who had been used in mind control experiments.
...
Generally, it appears that therapists across the country are finding clients who have been subjected to mind control techniques. The consistency of their stories about the purpose of the mind control and torture techniques such as electric shock, use of hallucinogens, sensory deprivation, spinning, hypnosis, dislocation of limbs and sexual abuse is remarkable. There is almost nothing published on this aspect of mind control used with children and these clients come from all over the country, having had no contact with each other.
...
These clients have named the same people, particularly a Dr. Greene. I had heard Dr. Greene's name for several years associated with clients' reports of childhood torture, mind control techniques and childhood sexual abuse. One of my clients, who had seen him with a name tag, identified him as Dr. L. Wilson Greene. I made inquiries and to my surprise found out that a person with this same name was the Scientific Director of the Chemical and Radiological Laboratories at the Army Chemical Center and that he was engaged in doing research for the Army and the CIA.

It needs to be made clear that these clients have remembered these names and events spontaneously with free recall and without the use of any memory retrieval techniques such as hypnosis. As much as possible, we have tried to verify the memories. I have sent information from one of my clients to Alan Schefflin, Professor of Law at Santa Clara University Law School. He has been able to confirm that the information that she has supplied is absolutely true and that her memories could not have been derived from any published source. This client simply came into my office one day with MKULTRA written on a piece of paper after about 9 months of therapy. Another client's memories about the CIA connection to Dr. Greene appeared spontaneously several months ago. She has memories of being exposed to radiation. I had never mentioned anything about government research or the CIA to either of them prior to the time that their memories emerged spontaneously.

A little more on "Dr Greene" from Will Snodgrass's interview of Wolf, Mullen, and another trauma survivor in Wolf's care, Chris DeNicola Ebner:

Will Snodgrass: Claudia, do you remember Dr. Greene?

Claudia Mullen: Very well. The first time I met him was, from my understanding now, most of the time he kept himself disguised and used different names depending on what part of the country he was in. At Tulane, he saw no reason to do that I guess, and he would wear a white coat just like any other doctor, and he would wear a name tag, Dr. L. Wilson Greene. But he didn't like anyone calling him anything but "Doctor." He didn't even like being called Dr. Greene. I knew him from the years 1957 until about five years before he died in 1988.

Will Snodgrass: So Dr. Greene was operating at Tulane University and also at Kansas?

Valerie Wolf: And at Tucson. Dr. Greene has been reported — he is probably the most consistent figure or doctor that's been reported by almost everybody. He went under the names of Dr. Green, Dr. Greenbaum, Greentree, Greenberg. But always with the Green in his name. He travelled throughout the country, training people, doing consultation and also doing stuff on his own, I think, as Chris experienced.

Chris DeNicola Ebner: He used disguise with me as well. I never saw him without a surgical mask, usually something on his head, and all I ever saw was a little bit of the black rimmed glasses and whatever. He was just a sadistic, evil man, and he hated me because I would not comply with what he wanted me to do.

And we can follow Dr Greene right down the rabbit hole with the lecture "Hypnosis in Multiple Personality Disorder: Ritual Abuse" by Dr D Corydon Hammond, President of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, delivered at the Fourth Annual Eastern Regional Conference on Abuse and Multiple Personality in 1992. It's come to be known as the "Greenbaum Speech". The Psychiatric Institute of Washington, sponsor of the event, still makes available tapes and transcripts of the other sessions. Not of this one:

When you start to find the same highly esoteric information in different states and different countries, from Florida to California, you start to get an idea that there's something going on that is very large, very well coordinated, with a great deal of communication and sytematicness to what's happening. So I have gone from someone kind of neutral and not knowing what to think about it all to someone who clearly believes ritual abuse is real and that the people who say it isn't are either naive like people who didn't want to believe the Holocaust or -- they're dirty.
...
Let's suppose that this whole front row here are multiples and that she has an alter named Helen and she has one named Mary, she has one named Gertrude, she has one named Elizabeth, and she has one named Monica. Every one of those alters may have put on it a program, perhaps designated alpha-zero-zero-nine a Cult person could say, "Alpha-zero-zero-nine" or make some kind of hand gesture to indicate this and get the same part out in any one of them even though they had different names that they may be known by to you. Alphas appear to represent general programming, the first kind of things put in. Betas appear to be sexual programs. For example, how to perform oral sex in a certain way, how to perform sex in rituals, having to do with producing child pornography, directing child pornography, prostitution. Deltas are killers trained in how to kill in ceremonies. There'll also be some self-harm stuff mixed in with that, assassination and killing. Thetas are called psychic killers.

You know, I had never in my life heard those two terms paired together. I'd never heard the words "psychic killers" put together, but when you have people in different states, including therapists inquiring and asking, "What is Theta," and patients say to them, "Psychic killers," it tends to make one a believer that certain things are very systematic and very widespread.
...
I remember one therapist who'd been with me in several hypnosis workshops and consulted with me about a crisis MPD situation. I told her to inquire about Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta. She did. She got back to me saying, "Yeah, I got an indication it's there. What is it?" I said, "I'm not going to tell you. Go back and inquire about some of this." We set an appointment for a week or so hence. She got back with me and said, "I asked what Theta was and she said, 'psychic killers.' I asked her what Delta was and she said 'killers.'" Okay. So I told her about some of this stuff for a two-hour consult. She called back and she said, "This seemed too fantastic. I heard this and I thought, 'Has Cory been working too hard?'" she said, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but she said, "I held you in high professional regard, but this just sounded so off in the twilight zone that I really thought, 'Is he having a nervous breakdown or something?'" She said, "But I respected you enough to ask about this."
...
It appears that below this we've got some other layers. One is called "Green Programming" it appears. Isn't it interesting that the doctor's name is Dr. Green? One of the questions in a way that does not contaminate is after I've identified some of this stuff is there and they've given me a few right answers about what some of it is, "If there were a doctor associated with this programming and his name were a color, you know, like Dr. Chartreuse or something, if his name were a color, what color would the color be?" Now once in a while I've had some other colors mentioned in about three or four patients that I felt were trying to dissimulate in some way and I don't really believe had this. In one case I got another color and I found out later it was a doctor whose name was a color who was being trained by Dr. Green almost thirty years ago and he supervised part of the programming of this woman under this doctor.
...
[Self-destruct] Omega alters use the metaphor -- and it is their metaphor -- of robots. and it is like a robot shell comes down over the child alter to make them act in robotic fashion. Once in a while internally you'll confront robots.
...
A while back I was talking to a small group of therapists somewhere. I told them about some of this. In the middle of talking about some of this all the color drained out of one social worker's face and she obviously had a reaction and I asked her about and she said, "I'm working with a five-year-old boy," and she said, "Just in the last few weeks he was saying something about a Dr. Green." I went on a little further and I mentioned some of these things and she just shook her head again. I said, "What's going on?" She said, "He's been spontaneously telling me about robots and about Omega." I think you will find variations of this and that they've changed it, probably every few years and maybe somewhat regionally to throw us off in various ways but that certain basics and fundamentals will probably be there. I have seen this in people up into their forties including people whose parents were very, very high in the CIA.

Apart from the testimony of survivors and their psychologists, there's not much to be found on "Dr Green," "Dr Greenbaum" or even "Dr L Wilson Greene." Except that what does exist suggests someone essential to the germination of CIA mind control research. Linda Hunt, in her Secret Agenda: The United States Government, Nazi Scientists and Project Paperclip, 1945 to 1990, names "Edgewood's L. Wilson Greene" as the foremost proponent of psychochemical warfare in the late '40s, saying he had suggested setting aside $50,000 in the 1950 budget to study the effects of "61 compounds ranging from alcohol to mescaline," that could induce "hysteria, panic, seizures, and hallucinations" in enemy forces. This study appears to have triggered Greene's interest in mind control. Tad Szulc, in "The CIA's Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" (Psychology Today, November 1977), writes that the "man whom the CIA documents credit with inspiring the program is Dr. L. Wilson Greene of the Army Chemical Corps, who had long urged the United States to embark upon psychochemical warfare."

The program was BLUEBIRD, the deliberate creation of multiple personalities. BLUEBIRD was soon renamed ARTICHOKE, after a favourite vegetable of CIA Director Allen Dulles. ARTICHOKE in turn gave way to MKULTRA and MKSEARCH.

Dr Orne to the rescue

Naturally, the official record remains sketchy, accidental and heavily redacted, as Richard Helms ordered all files on mind control destroyed before he left the directorate. Officially, the programs registered nothing but failures. "We are sufficiently ineffective so that our findings can be published," says Dr Martin Orne, a longtime covert CIA consultant, in John Marks' The Search for The "Manchurian Candidate." Though ex-CIA officer Miles Copeland also told Marks that "the congressional subcommittee which [studied mind control] got only the barest glimpse." The CIA experimented with a number of mind control techniques, and research was heavily compartmentalized.

Orne's remarks suggest that had the Agency hit upon an effective technique, it would surely remain unpublished, highly classified and scrubbed from the records, such as they exist. So perhaps we shouldn't hold our breath awaiting official confirmation of success, particularly if it involved the deliberate fragmentation of the minds of children to create programmable "alters."

And let's talk about Orne for a moment. He was a frequent recipient of grants from the Human Ecology Society, which Marks calls a "CIA-controlled funding mechanism for studies and experiments in the behavioral sciences." An MK-ULTRA official told Marks, "We could go to Orne anytime and say, 'Okay, here is a situation and here is a kind of guy. What would you expect we might be able to achieve if we could hypnotize him?' Through his massive knowledge, he could speculate and advise."

In Psychic Dictatorship in the USA, Alex Constantine writes:

The voluminous files of John Marks in Washington, D.C. (139 boxes obtained under FOIA, to be exact, two-fifths of which document CIA interest in the occult) include an Agency report itemizing a $30,000 grant to Orne from Human Ecology, and another $30,000 from Boston's Scientific Engineering Institute (SEI) - another CIA funding cover, founded by Edwin Land of the Polaroid Corporation (and supervision of the U-2 spy plane escapades). This was the year that the CIA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) geared up a study of parapsychology and the occult. The investigation, dubbed Project OFTEN-CHICKWIT, gave rise to the establishment of a social "laboratory" by SEI scientists at the University of South Carolina - a college class in black witchcraft, demonology and voodoo.

So what should we make of the fact that Dr Martin Orne, the CIA's "go to" guy on mind control, went on to become a founding member of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation? The primary purpose of which, writes Constantine, "is the castigation of survivors and therapists for fabricating accusations of ritual abuse"?

Okay - So what?

Why dig into this now, when America seems to be presenting more pressing horrors demanding our revulsion?

Because this is unfinished business. Because so long as the abuse remains unexposed, we should presume it's ongoing.

And because overshadowing barely whispered scandals such as the Franklin Credit Union and the Bush White House call boys, and the perverse abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, and perhaps now even the "Jeff Gannon" story, there is the suggestion of a sheltered sex and death cult, which may be the true religion of the National Security State.

Studying this material, and most importantly, honouring the victims with unprejudiced hearing, may not tell us only where America went wrong, but how far wrong it's yet to go.

A hint, perhaps, from investigative journalist Jon Rappoport, in 1995:

About three weeks ago I met a woman who is a therapist. She works north of Los Angeles. If you met this woman and talked to her, you would say 'she's very on top of things, she is very smart, she seems like a real human being.' So she looks at me and she says, "I was part of this when I was a kid, as a child." She doesn't want to talk about it yet, but she said, "this business about creating perfect spies, I don't think that's it. I don't think that's why they were really doing it.... I think there is something beyond this. It is somewhere in the back of my mind, but I can't get to it." I didn't question her about how she knows this, but she said "First of all this was a very wide-ranging project ... there were echelons of the project, not just simply one level. There were children brought up from South America and Mexico. They were considered expendable. They were used with the crudest techniques of brainwashing and so forth. The idea was to learn from this techniques in a more refined way techniques that would be used on another echelon of children. The best and brightest in America." I said, "Do you mean children from well-to-do families?" She said, "Not necessarily. The smartest."

They could be thinking that what they want to do is program these kids who would later, supposedly, emerge in prominent positions in society, so that they would then have long term control of society by controlling people in power positions. She said (she didn't say "yes") but she said, "Well, yeah, that makes sense.... They brought a lot of doctors over here after the War and not just the rocket scientists ... they brought a lot of doctors over here." And all throughout this testimony you will read, sprinkled here, "a doctor with a German accent.... was it Green? ... he had blonde hair...."

As you said, Jeff, not all conspiracy-theories are created equal. And I think, that this one is definitely wrong.
Before I became interested in politics, I read quite a bit about psychology and the workings of the brain and later about the false memory-syndrome.
If you are interested: "Making Monsters" by Richard Ofshe an Ethan Watters is an extremely well written, even if sometimes polemic, book of what happens in Recovered Memory Therapy.
There is most definitely some kind of mind-control going on, but the CIA is not responsible this time around. Responsible are incompetent therapist, with no clue of how the mind processes memory.
In reality the brain does not work like a computer, instead it stores memory in a lot of different places. And every time we remeber something, we have to recreate our memory all new from those places. Some parts of our memory might get lost. So in order to make sense of this inperfect memory, the brain will use other memories stored at a different time or even things we only imagined.
A memory gets especially distorted through leading questions by an authority figure we trust or by peer-group pressure.
In this way, by mild coercion through leading questions, hypnosis, relaxing exercises which work like self-hypnosis
- and in clinical settings even the use of electro-shocks, restraining sessions and strong psychopharmaka, the patients become more and more unable to see the difference between fantasy and real memory. With time and enough pressure by the therapist or by a group of other "survivors", the memories get more and more extreme and bizarre and by the same technic even multiple personalities are created.

When patients get out of this coercive "recovered memory" cult, they often recover from their "multi-personality-disorders" in a very short time and most everybody retracts their story of satanic ritual abuse.

The passage you qoted was, as far as can I remember, also quoted in "Making Monster" together with rather convincing evidence of malpractice by this doctor.

Don´t get me wrong, MK-Ultra was quite real, evidence was brought before the US-Congress. However, the victims were not middle-class women and children,as most of those, who claim having been satanically abused, are, but they were people, who could easily be controled were without protection of family and others: patients from mental institutions, prison inmates and soldiers.
And the military is, in my opinion, one big brain-washing-institution.
I´ve watched several documentaries on Marine-boot-camp training on TV.
And the training officers said themselves, that what they do is a kind of brainwashing.

They physically exhaust the recruits to near-breakdown, while at the same time humiliating them verbally until many actually do have a mental breakdown.
They create sleep deprevations by night- and day excercises. They even temper with the recruits´diet.
And then, when those recruits are most vulnerable, their personality is rebuilt as a member of the Marine Corp. They are told, that within the Marines they are great, without the Marines they are nothing.
As we have heard recently, combat-soldiers in Iraq are even given drugs like "Ecstasy" - in my opinion, to complete the brain-washing.
The whole thing will of course have a devastating blowback, when the soldiers get out of the military. And there is, where the UNA-bomber or other American terrorists or serial murderers get in.
Most of them have a military carreer in their background, Marines, Special Forces of the CIA or other combat experiences, where they have killed other human beings before.

And yes, sexual abuse is also used as tool, to break people down, which is a kind of mind-control, but mostly towards people considered "the enemy" like in Abu Ghraib, Guantanmo and in Israel against Palestinian prisoners.

I have a hard time believing this stuff, but I also find the idea of overzealous therapists implanting remarkably similar false memories all over the country, for years, to be a real stretch also. Hell, I just had a "recovered memory" a few days ago about a weekend at Disneyland when I was 11. It was a good memory, so there was no trauma, and I'm sure many of the details have been altered or colored by the intervening years, but I know damn well I went to Disneyland. So the "controversy" about recovered memories seems to me a little bit exaggerated, and I'm wondering how artificial it is.

Any thoughts on Elizabeth Loftus, recovered memory debunker? Is she related to John Loftus, historian and CIA Nazi hunter?

How about Ted Gunderson, former FBI agent?

Are these reliable sources?

Funny how these days people will say on one hand "sure our government did some pretty awful things in the past, but times have changed." These same people will often turn around and say "we've really gotta take the gloves off to fight these terrorists. National security is too important to be politically correct about tactics."

Ignorance is strength.

There is a book by a Canadian Author Timothy Findley (fiction but entirely prescient) "Head Hunters" about a gov. sanctioned sexually abusive mind control program perpetrated on children. And a Psychiatrist who fights it. It is a wonderful book and also includes epidemics of "avian flu" and massive gov. bird kills in cities to stop the disease. Great book and seems to have described the weird and almost ritualistic evil taking place before us in so many ways.

Again I would direct people to anything by David McGowan, especially "Programmed to Kill" and "The "F" word, Fascism and the Politics of Illusion". This is NOT fiction.
I'd also urge people to read anything by Derrick Jensen. Whereas McGowan can give you the facts about programmed personalities, the crushing process which trains them, Jensen makes sense of the brutality of our culture, he uses his own family to represent the micro of our culture (family violence perpetrated by the father on all other members of the family) and suggests this is VERY common. We don't talk about it and that helps in the manipulation of the entire culture. We do the same with war violence, we accept it because we "should" (support our troops!) and ignore the crime. Same with the planet as a whole.
And if you want to see this denial of reality in full force, check out "The Nation" magazine of a few weeks ago and find out how the False Memory group are able to perpetuate the idea of abusers as victims. It's quite a trick, but I find the "progressive" media is very good at promoting this idea. They leave the actual war carnage to the "conservatives". Thanks again Jeff, I love your blog.

If you have a group of therapists meeting regurlarly, all of them believing in satanic abuse and having read the same book descibing such abuse, you will find simililarities in the stories of their patients.
It´s so easy to implant false memories in other people, even outside of any kind of hypnosis or therapy or anything.
Try it yourself with friends, co-worker or family! If you state something of the past long and often enough or even just insuate it with leading questions and if you have any credibility with them, they will soon remember it,just the way you told them, even if it never happened the way you said.
Of course this is a real mean thing to do with people who trust you. But often this happens involuntarily, the person with the highest stature or most self-confidence is trusted, even if his or her memory is actually the lousiest of all the other witnesses. And the witnesses with better memory but less trust in themselves will change their story and in the long run even their memory to fit into the accepted mold.
And I find the research of Elizabeth Loftus quite credible on her own, especially since she is not the only one coming to similar conclusions about memory.
And what has her husbands job to do with it?

And about your own recovered memory:
There are lots of small things that can trigger childhood memories of single events, you haven´t thought about in along time.(B.t.W Mrs Loftus would ask you, if you had shaken hands with Bugs Bunny, but I guess you know that)
But you would not just bury down serial extremely serious sexual abuse going on for your years, and then recover it again all of a sudden. However, if you start imagine that kind of abuse and you are involved in high pressure therapy or group settings, after a long enough time and depending on your personality, you might believe it to be your own memory.

I also think, that DaveMcGowan has written some real good stuff on the Peak Oil scam and the military background of serial killers, I do, however, disagree with him on the ritual child abuse theme.

The following story is so incredibly outlandish that even those who hold the Bush family in utter contempt still have an visceral instinct to reject it out-of-hand. It is a tale of the forbidden desires percolating in the deepest, most atavistic realms of the unconscious, far beyond the pale of civilization and good taste, thoroughly violating every cherished norm of polite society and human decency. To dismiss it without any meaningful attempt to critically assess its potential empirical reality, however, would be to discount numerous first-hand testimonials and second-hand investigations by duly constituted figures of authority.

The story could be a populist moral panic symptomatic of the economic and social dislocation of the American working and middle class over the last two to three decades. It could be iatrogenically created by agents of the panoptic bureaucratic nation-state, such as social workers, law enforcement officers, and legislators, as a means of consolidating their power or advancing their careers. It could also be true. Without a doubt, it is entirely plausible within the context of American intelligence activity since World War II.

The Franklin Community Federal Credit Union case encompasses financial fraud, money laundering, drug running, and child prostitution, as well as a mix of criminal and commercial satanism that harkens back to the Le Voisin affair in France in the 1680s. The Le Voisin affair, which resulted in the first investigation of satanism using something resembling modern police techniques, is itself part of a larger pattern in which fringe groups perform functions
that society finds must be forbidden and disapproved, yet finds necessary and useful. They can spread terror in the segments of the population that the society wishes to suppress, and perform activities that the official morality does not allow, which people nevertheless demand (such as gambling, drug sales, pornography, abortion, and prostitution).

This certainly seems to be the general niche that Franklin Federal Community Credit Union director Lawrence A. “Larry” King fell into, consistent with the wholesale privatization of formerly public intelligence functions during the Reagan-Bush administration. His meteoric rise to wealth, power, and fame began when he was taken under the wing of the political and business elite of Omaha, which commands national power disproportionate to the small size of Nebraska by virtue of hosting such important industry leaders as Berkshire Hathaway, Union Pacific, Con Agra, and Mutual of Omaha. King made the most of this valuable entre to become the leader of a humble neighborhood credit union that claimed $2.6 million in deposits, and soon, a rapidly rising star in national Republican politics.

After his credit union was raided and shut down on Friday, November 4, 1988 (a mere four days before George Bush was elected President) by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Internal Revenue Service, and National Credit Union Administration, a secret second set of books were discovered which recorded deposits totaling $38 million.

Of this sum, only $4 million could be accounted for in the civil suit brought by the National Credit Union Administration. The remaining $34 million could conceivably have been lost through fraud and embezzlement. In light of King’s probable intelligence connections (through William Casey, Max Hugel, Oliver North, and others) and the well-documented connection between the intelligence community and collapse of the Bank of Commerce and Credit International and the savings and loan industry , however, it seems likely that at least some of it went to fund covert activities.

Within weeks of the credit union's closure, the unicameral Nebraska legislature established a special investigative committee to look into the missing funds. Unexpectedly, it soon found itself receiving testimony from numerous teenagers and young adults who said that they had been child prostitutes, and from social workers and state child-care administrators backing up those charges. They all accused King of running a child prostitution ring for the political and business elite of Omaha and the nation, especially Republicans. Shortly after, two New York Times articles in December of 1988 broadly outlined the accusations of sexual and physical abuse, child prostitution, child pornography, money laundering, and drugs.
King’s illicit work was not restricted to Omaha, but involved arranging child prostitution parties at cities across the nation, including Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. Many of the Omaha foster youth testified before the Franklin Committee that they traveled with King in private planes to attend political events, after which they were used as prostitutes at sex parties.

Although Bush's name surfaced repeatedly in the course of the Nebraska scandal, it didn’t make it into print until July 1989, in an editorial in Omaha's leading daily newspaper: “One child, who has been under psychiatric care, is said to believe she saw George Bush at one of King's parties.” While this may have been the first allegation in print associating Bush with the scandal, it was not the first one tying him to child prostitution. As early as 1985, Eulice Lisa Washington, a foster child of Barbara Webb (Larry King’s cousin) and her husband (Franklin Credit Union board member Jarrett Webb) made similar allegations to social workers and law enforcement personnel, specifically naming George Bush as in attendance at such parties at least twice. A March 25, 1986 report from Boy's Town child welfare officer Julie Walters recorded Lisa saying that she had first met Bush at the 1984 Republican convention and later at a private party in Washington, D.C. hosted by King. The Franklin Committee report cited similar allegations from Lisa that she and 15-20 (mostly black) boys were taken by King to another party in Chicago in September or October of 1984 at which Bush was present:
She stated she saw George Bush pay King money, and that Bush left the party with a nineteen year old black boy named Brent. . . . (She) indicated that she knew George Bush due to the fact that he had been in political campaigns and also she had observed a picture of Bush with Larry King at Larry King's house in Omaha.

In December 1990, a Washington County, Nebraska judge dismissed all charges against Lisa's foster parents, the Webbs. The foster care specialists and social service workers who debriefed Lisa and other eye witnesses all vouched for the authenticity of their stories, even the part about Bush, and included the Walters report in the Foster Care Review Board's official report to the Franklin Committee and law enforcement authorities. As Lisa’s sometime foster parent put it: “This was long before he was president. It seems like there were more exciting people to ‘lie’ about if that's what they were doing.”

It was not merely physical and sexual abuse, child prostitution, and child pornography that the foster children were subjected to. They also seem to have been forced into involvement with satanic ritual abuse and murder as well. Members of King’s stable “charged him with participation in at least one satanic ritual murder of a child several years ago.”

It was King’s capacity as an organizer of private sex parties across the country, however, that caused the story to circulate throughout the international media. Magazines like Avvenimenti of Italy, Pronto of Barcelona (the highest circulation weekly in Spain, with 4.5 million readers), and Inside News of Australia took the New York Times' scandal charges a step further. They reported definitively that King pimped a nation-wide child prostitution ring servicing both Republican and Democratic political and business elites. Pronto wrote that the scandal "appears to directly implicate politicos of the state of Nebraska and Washington, D.C. who are very close to the White House and George Bush himself.”
In Washington, D.C., King seems to have partnered in homosexual and child prostitution with insider lobbyist Craig Spence, a Republican powerbroker widely known for his lavish parties, well-attended by the upper echelons of power. On July 29, 1989, the Washington Times published the banner front page headline “Homosexual prostitution inquiry ensnares VIPs with Reagan, Bush: ‘Call boys’ took midnight tour of White House.” The expose was documented by credit card vouchers and gave Spence a leading role. Later Washington Times articles reported that President Bush tracked the burgeoning scandal closely.

As the scandal began to die down, Bush had managed to avoid giving any press conferences on the topic. When Spence was asked who had facilitated his late night tour of the White House, he “hinted that the tours were arranged by ‘top level’ persons, including Donald Gregg, national security advisor to Vice President Bush.” Weeks later, Spence was found dead in a New York City hotel room of a gunshot wound. It was ruled a suicide. Although Gregg denied any connection to Spence, Spence had sponsored a dinner in his honor in the spring of 1989 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. The Bush administration carefully tracked publicly circulated reports about the scandal.

King was indicted on May 19, 1989 on forty counts related to the collapse of the credit union. When he prepared to approach Bush for help by purchasing a ticket to a fundraising event Bush was scheduled to attend in Omaha in early 1990, U.S. Magistrate Richard Kopf abruptly ordered King to undergo psychiatric evaluation at a federal facility in Springfield, Missouri. King was whisked away by the Secret Service while buying flowers on February 17, 1990, before he could attend the event.

Another death as convenient as that of Spence occurred on July 11, 1990, when the small plane of Gary Caradori, a retired state police investigator hired by the Nebraska Senate as chief investigator for the case, piloted by himself, blew up in mid-air, killing him and his eight year old son. The appendix of DeCamp’s volume also lists an additional fourteen suspicious deaths.
Three years after the scandal broke, it was apparently still sensitive enough to require ongoing damage control, perhaps because the 1992 presidential campaign was heating up and about to head into the primary season.

The December 1991 edition of Gentleman’s Quarterly ran a long article “viewed by many political observers in Nebraska as an attempt to refute the charges which would not die, despite the termination of all official inquiries.” The story cavalierly dismissed the “vile stew of child abuse, prostitution, money-laundering and drug-trafficking” by categorically asserting that “it turned out the whole thing had been fabricated.”
In the classic tradition of the limited hang-out, the article admitted that embezzlement and homosexuality took place but that “no children were ever involved in this case.” In fact the “only child even mentioned was a 9-year-old boy, whom the least reliable of Caradori's witnesses claimed to have seen in the company of George Bush at one of Larry King's Washington parties.” Apparently the journalist didn't consider the numerous other adolescents and preadolescents involved in the case to be "children," even though they were minors at the time of the alleged incidents. One informant for the piece, Steve Bowman, was quoted as saying "We do have some credible witnesses who say that ‘Yes, George Bush does have a problem.’"

A preponderance of evidence suggests that Larry King was 1) a funding conduit for covert operations, 2) an elite pimp for the rich and powerful through his connections with Boys Town, Girls Club, and local foster parents, and 3) aware and tolerant of a satanist faction among his suppliers of child prostitutes, in order to have access to especially compliant ones to satisfy the most depraved wishes of his clients and – possibly – to provide intelligence operations with assets suffering from disassociative identity disorder. This will facilitate their use for extremely sensitive operations requiring the highest level of deniability.

There are areas of overlap between modern-day satanism and post-World War II intelligence activities, particularly in the areas of mind control. MK Ultra and other CIA projects like Artichoke, Bluebird, Pandora, MK-Delta, MK-Naomi, MK-Action, and MK-Search were not science fiction. Although covert, highly sensitive, and often outside of standard bureaucratic oversight protocols, these programs did exist. They left enough of a paper trail to prove that they ruined hundreds if not thousands of lives in the name of “national security.”

Perhaps the most useful question in initiating a critical analysis of a story as shocking as Bush’s involvement in more depraved elements of the Franklin Federal Community Credit Union scandal is "cui bono?" – "who benefits?" Who benefits from the circulation of such salacious stories implicating George H.W. Bush? It is interesting to note that Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Washington Times took such an active role in promoting the story in a major, agenda-setting media market. It may have been because of Bush's equivocal support for Moon's priority notion that P.O.W.-M.I.A.s still existed in large numbers in Vietnam well after the end of that conflict. Bush was also a quintessential representative of the relatively "liberal" Northeastern international finance capital-oriented wing of the Republican party. Their willingness to trade with and invest in communist countries was another source of contention for Moon, as it was for the John Birch Society and its ilk as well. These conservative groups saw the “liberal” wing as selling out American sovereignty to an international banking elite working to take over the United States by absorbing it into a godless world socialist government administered by the United Nations.
The Birchers represent an idiosyncratic fusion of reactionary, libertarian, and populist elements within the "Cowboys," the Sunbelt economic and political elite that have been battling with the "Yankees" for supremacy since World War II. Clearly, the last two generations of Bushes have been trying mightily to mobilize the resources and allegiance of both the Cowboys and the Yankees by attempting to identify and ingratiate themselves with both camps.

Many establishment Republicans have also been jealous of Bush's patrician background and seemingly effortless rise to power through a succession of appointed positions. They were frustrated at what they saw as his failure to pay his dues, by working his way up through the party ranks. Then, of course, there were also Democrats and radicals of the right and left, any number of whom would have salivated at the prospect of the fall of such a nationally prominent mainstream Republican.

The controversy of Bush’s involvement with the Franklin credit union scandal differs from that of the red Studebaker not in magnitude but in kind. As such, it requires a far different analysis if life writing is to be used effectively as a form of social critique. Plainly put, this story is tacky and disturbing. It is also fraught with implications most people would rather not confront. Somehow the death of millions of innocent people through war and covert operations our tax dollars pay for is sane and acceptable, but the idea that a sitting Vice President may have been a pedophile is insane and totally beyond the realm of possibility. Nevertheless, a documentary record does exist and it can be interrogated, as distasteful and morally exhausting as it that may be.

Although I chose this single episode for the purposes of clarity and simplicity, there does exist a literature that discusses Bush’s pedophilia in other contexts (to say nothing of the perennial Beltway scuttlebutt of his having had a long-term affair with his secretary Jennifer Fitzgerald). Likewise, there also exists a huge variety of court cases and other empirical evidence pointing to the pervasive use of child prostitutes by elites worldwide. This makes it an ideal test case for conspiranoiac analysis because, in spite of voluminous evidence, it is still shut out of mainstream discourse - and emphatically rejected by (almost) everyone who nevertheless manages to come to contact with such narratives.

Why? Certainly because it is so distasteful. In the modern era, notions of taste and manners are central to our conception of ourselves as human beings distinct from the rest of the animal world. But it is not only propriety that causes such stories to be rejected so vehemently. It is also because of the implications they raise. As inured as we are to the plainly psychotic idea of modern war as a solution to political conflicts, the idea of breaking the bond of trust and dependence a child has with adults in such a manner is far, far more shocking to most. It implies that there is virtually no act of violence, depravity, or ignorance a child molester would not be capable of. When such a figure of evil is in a position of grave authority (let alone being packaged as a paragon of human decency and “family values”), it is all the more disturbing.
It would shatter the very foundations of conventional reality to admit that someone entrusted with the collective welfare of millions of people could commit such perversions.

For most people, every other comforting aspect of the conventional wisdom would tumble in turn upon making such an admission to themselves. So rather than confront the empirical evidence in a critical, deliberative fashion, they would rather simply continue to take it on faith that their leaders have their best interests at heart.
It may very well be that this seemingly bottomless capacity for incredulity by the masses regarding elite behavior is one of the major engines behind the phenomena of elite deviance.

Already conditioned to being above the law and unrestrained by personal responsibility by virtue of wealth and privilege, they may be perfectly aware that even their most shocking behavior will be not only protected by the “law enforcement” apparatus of the nation-state they control, but will be totally rejected as implausible by public opinion in the unlikely event that limited episodes escape into the broader public consciousness. This could be seen as a kind of corollary of Goebbel’s “theory of the big lie.” Certainly, in his personal appetites and in his policy decisions, Bush has exhibited a repeated sense of the cocksurety typical of someone who was tapped as a “made man” in a crime family early on in life - and rose to be the Don.

If you have a group of therapists meeting regurlarly, all of them believing in satanic abuse and having read the same book descibing such abuse, you will find simililarities in the stories of their patients.Well, the same can be said of any disorder. I suspect paedophilia and child prostitution are indeed quite widespread among those who have the power to prevent investigations by media or law. I do not think the Franklin case was an aberration. As for satanic ritual abuse and/or programming, I remain agnostic.

I understand that memory is malleable, but I suspect the incidence of "whole cloth" implantation of false memories is actually quite rare.

I didn't realize John and Elizabeth Loftus were husband and wife. If that's correct, I find it curious that the CIA's preeminent Nazi hunter is married to the country's most prominent recovered memory debunker.

Crop circles and cattle mutilations mean nothing is weird and real, only weird and fake.
Pushing the arcane and occult just that much further out than the truth means they don't have to sweat the heat.
Everybody has a credulous threshold, and the mass, whether it's the journalist mass, or the public mass, or the sketchy Roswell mass, can be dialed, there are people skilled in that calibration. Then it's a relatively simple thing to plant the slightly more outlandish tale, get it debunked, and establish the lunacy of the legitimate accusers.
Places like this are where we should expect that intentional weird-thrusting to be going on.
Because you're working the brink of the verge.

Jeff, Thanks for being so brave and thinking and printing what you do. I hope you keep writing. Otherwise I will think you were really Hunter Thompson.
Don't laugh, I think he's connected.

"Everybody has a credulous threshold"

I know; I've shattered my own a few times.

All I can do is take this blog where my discernment leads me, and people are welcome to come along if they want, for as long as they want. I'll just try to stay honest, even when it's intellectually embarrassing.

And don't get me started on crop circles and cattle mutilations.

From someone who's fascinated by the fantastic and the seemingly impossible, many of the things which you and others write about so outlandish that they may very well, in part, be true. I always leave your site feeling a little exposed and raw. I believe that is a result of thinking about things that "aren't discussed in polite circles."

I don't know if what you are writing about is true; I'm sure some of its is. Regardless, I do enjoy your blog.

So it may be a coincidence but reading a local city newspaper( Canada) I noticed an article about foriegn students, doctors, scientists...etc, being forced to go through massive securite checks just to get into American universities. In turn they are coming to Canada for there studied professsion. Could it be linked? maybe sending in drones just to take over power positions in order to put their arms around the one country that could supply natural resources to north America for years. A slow but subtle choke hold in order for contorl on the future. Step one create the ultimate drone, step two release the drones and set the plan into action, step three trigger the drones and slowly increase the choke hold. Well not much I can do except keep reading.....Thanks Love the articles .

People like erlanda never cease to amaze me... and after all this time, I don't know why it cuts like a knife when people try to intellectualize this away. As a former victim of ritual abuse, I am saddened that some people go to such length to discount my experiences and tell me that some therapist planted them in my head. I had vivid, albeit confusing, memories popping into my head for two decades. I drew pictures of these memories, and I kept a journal about them. When I did eventually seek a therapist, it was I WHO TOLD HIM what they were. He never once suggested what they might be, or inferred any meaning to any of it. I brought HIM the story.

I do agree it is possible for a therapist to implant a SUGGESTION of meaning, especially when a therapist is so eager to "solve" the puzzle a client can present. I also know that there are unethical therapists who, out of their own dysfunctional psyche, abuse and control clients. However, this in no way means that people like me do not KNOW WHAT WE KNOW. How dare erlanda, or anyone, lump all of us survivors into one pile and label us as naive, needy clients who allow ourselves to be brainwashed by therapists. I'm a middle-aged adult and I assure you, I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. Just because it is horrible and bizarre, does not make it any less real. When you refuse to believe, when you discount and reject, you are doing exactly what the perpetrators said you would do. They told us you would laugh, or tell us we're crazy, or commit us to institutions... most of all they assured us that you would NEVER believe us. And because they knew you wouldn't, they were (are) free to operate safely and confidently.

Most survivors are like me, leading quiet, normal lives, seeking peace in their own minds, trying to find and appreciate the beauty in life to help us rid ourselves of the horrendous pictures that still, after all this time, can jump in at any moment and rob us of our peace.

To everyone who has ever believed and validated a survivor, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support and encouragement give us renewed hope. And the fact that Jeff devotes his time and talent to writing about this topic honors me in a way that I cannot put into words. Thanks Jeff, for tackling the tough issues and for a great website.

HI-

I was talking to a Neurofeedback provider who was telling me that neurofeedback is often used as a way to help victims of mind control tap into their memories. She said she had been approached by a therapist to work with a large group of women that had MPD, and were intergenerational victims of mindcontrol.
